Sifu Pat Brooks

Sifu Pat BrooksPat Brooks has been involved with the Vale of York T’ai Chi Qigong Association since its inception in 2001, taking the role of secretary in June 2002. Pat came from work in the Special Educational Needs advisory service into counselling and clinical supervision, in which she still works as an independent practitioner. She could be described as a late developer, taking up T’ai Chi Qigong in her late fifties, when it at last became accessible to her. Prior to that she had many years of experience in Yoga, but found Qigong more fulfilling and beneficial. Starting in the Lamas organisation she studied under Master Alan Box, grading first with Lamas, and continuing to grade with Vale of York to attain her black sash.

When the idea of instructor training was floated Pat decided to apply, simply for the chance of learning more. However, things have a momentum of their own, and before completing the training Pat was teaching, and enjoying teaching, five weekly classes. Since then her involvement has continued to be an important part of her life, bringing her contact with many people who have become friends, and enhancing her life by that and increased confidence and well-being. More and more the energy work we do has become integrated into her other work, so that they have become all part of the same web of life. Pat’s joy is to share all of this with others.

Sikung Alan Box

Sikung Alan BoxAlan Box studied under Grand Master Lowe for nine years and was taught LAMAS – style T’ai Chi Qigong. In 2000 Grand Master Lowe instructed Sikung Box to create his own organisation. Sikung Alan Box has worked as a counsellor at Nottingham counselling centre, and also has his own practice. He is a Reiki Master and has been practising Qigong for 16 years. He teaches classes to a wide range of students, including people with learning difficulties and a group with Parkinson’s disease. For the past seven years, he has been working as a registered tutor for Derbyshire County Council Adult Community Education Dept. He gained a City and Guilds Further Education teaching qualification in 2001. Three years ago, he started working for North-East Derbyshire Social Services, teaching people of all ages and abilities.
